General Safety Rules
NEODA specifies that the following minimum equipment be installed/used in the drag category:
| Driver Safety |
High performance racing life preserver such as Security or similar. No ski-vests will be allowed.
Snell-approved helmet. (APBA suggests an open-face helmet to prevent possible "bucketing" in a water impact and to allow easy access for resuscitation, however any Snell-type helmet is allowable)
|
| Boat Safety |
Kill-Switch with lanyard attached to driver which will disable the ignition system and fuel supply should the driver be ejected from the boat.
Dual-Cable or high-performance hydraulic steering system must be used. (Solid engine mounts suggested)
Steering-wheel or floor mounted trim switches are mandatory.
Foot-throttle is mandatory.
|
| Boat Identification |
Numbers must be easily visible on both sides of the boat, at least 4 inches in height, and a contrasting color. APBA assigns official boat numbers, but NEODA may assign you numbers for our races if you don't already have APBA numbers. |
| Flotation |
Original factory flotation systems must be maintained. APBA and NEODA require flotation to prevent boat loss should an accident occur. |
